“In my time dying, want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home
Well, well, well so I can die easy” Jimmy Page / Robert Plant / John Paul Jones/ John Bonham
The words of Led Zeppelin best describe what this series embodies. The epic 1975 song’s origins are traced back to a single line, “Jesus goin’ a-make up my dyin’ bed”. That line is currently registered with the Cleveland Public Library as an old spiritual hymn, author unknown. The places captured are fading away, left to quietly deteriorate. The imagery is a record of their history and their decline is part of that journey. The photographs are a tribute to their current state. One day they’ll be wiped away, for now they’re left to die easy.
